The preparation of some pi -donors left bracket :bis(alkylthio)-1,1 prime ,3,3 prime -tetrathiafulvalenes, bis(alkylthio)-1 prime ,1 prime ,2 prime ,2 prime -tetrathiafulvalenes, and 4,5-bis(alkylthio)-1,2-dithiolium salts right bracket and some pi -acceptors left bracket :metal (M)-1,2-dithiolenes, M equals Ni, Pt, Pd right bracket is briefly described. Also the preparation of a number of their charge transfer (CT) complexes is described, and preliminary results on the structural electrical and optical properties of the CT complexes are reported.
