New study on transverse effect of rock bolts in discontinuous rock mass

By using 3D ANSYS software, the transverse action mechanism of rock bolts in discontinuous rock mass was analyzed. The deformation process of discontinuous rock mass restricted with a rock bolt was simulated. The laws of interaction between a rock bolt and rocks and the displacement of discontinuous rock mass and a rock bolt were obtained. An unusual characteristic phenomenon of a rock bolt, called the railway function of rock bolt, was discovered in shearing. This function is harmful to the stability of discontinuous rock mass by rock bolting.
