摘要
The knowledge of the molten heel depth under various casting conditions is necessary for the design of continuous casting plants and for the determination of their performance. To determine the molten heel depth, three methods were experimentally tested and compared, namely, marking with lead, marking with **1**9**8Au, and mathematical modeling. It has been found that all these methods are applicable with good results.
