Improved efficiency of utilization of natural gas in heating furnaces and reduction of NOx emission

Theoretical and experimental data on NOx concentrations in flue gases from natural gas-burning metal-heating furnaces are presented. A method of prediction of NOx concentrations is developed, and calculations of the volume of NOx emitted, corrected for the fuel savings achieved by reutilizing the flue gas heat, are presented. An arrangement for extraction of the waste heat from flue gases of such furnaces that leads to large fuel savings without increasing the NOx content of flue gases is suggested.
