Presented is a description of experience with the nuclear generation of electric power - and an appraisal of its potential for contribution to a high degree of national self-sufficiency in energy. Increased reliance on the light water reactor is seen as a wise and prudent course which can produce electricity safely, with good reliability, low radioactive emissions, and low fuel costs.
