MAGNESIUM SUPPLY DEMAND PROJECTIONS FOR THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE.

Western Hemisphere demands add up to 107,000 metric tons. Capacity is 135,000 tons leaving a surplus of 28,000 tons. By 1981, the demands are projected to grow to 171,000 tons leaving a surplus of 31,000 tons. The advent of the hot chamber technology as applied to magnesium actually gives part costs competitive with aluminum. As a result of this hot chamber activity, a three-thousand ton growth by 1981 seems reasonable.
