Two-point bearings, which have superior resistance to vibration, are extensively used in turbine construction. No sufficiently accurate method of calculating these bearings is available. Existing methods can be used to calculate the position of the shaft center and consequently the minimum lubricant film thickness, but frictional loss, oil flow rate and temperature rise cannot be calculated with sufficient accuracy for practical purposes. The present article describes a method of calculation that is based on numerical solution of Reynolds equation and use of the statistical approach to determine frictional loss and temperature rise.
