The raw materials to be processed in the cement industry - mostly limestone, clay and marl - have different chemical and physical compositions. The individual layers of material in one quarry often differ so considerably that it is essential to homogenize them before processing to cement. Scrapers are employed for homogenization when stockpiles of bulk materials are piled up in such a way that the cross-section contains all components in the required portions.
