A method for determining the principal geometric parameters of the pore space of capillary porous materials, namely overall and differential porosity, range of effective pore diameters, most probable diameter, surface area per unit volume of material, and also coefficients of capillary mass transfer (capillary diffusion and thermal diffusion of liquid and coefficient of permeability to air or gas) from a single experiment is examined. The dependence of these physical properties on the effective pore diameters in porous ceramics and filter paper is presented. The results are analyzed and an estimate of the error in measuring the mass transfer coefficients is given.
