A formula is obtained for the critical heat flux during the boiling of underheated water in a long, uniformly heated pipe. A comparison is made with tabulated values of critical heat fluxes for underheated water flowing in a pipe 8 mm in diameter. Within the 2. 95-9. 8 MPa pressure range, the formula describes experimental data with an accuracy of plus or minus 12%.
