摘要
Activated carbon fiber (ACF) is a new type absorber which has been developed since 1960's. ACF has many characteristics different from active charcoal such as high specific surface, narrow pore distribution, high adsorption capacity and adsorption efficiency. Photoionization detector (PID) is a new type detector, which is applied, in chromatographic analysis in recent years, the detection limit of PID is high and the selectivity of PID is fine. This article studied characteristic detection of xenon by PID and dynamic absorption of xenon by ACF, the result is as below: 1. The characteristic detection of xenon by using PID Three-mixture gas such as nitrogen and xenon, air and xenon, carbon dioxide and xenon were analyzed by using 11.8eV UV lamp as excitation source. There were only one peak found among the chromatographic graphics of these three-mixture gas, the retention time of those peaks was the same as the retention time of 99.99% xenon, the retention time of those peaks was about 2 minutes. 2. The dynamic absorption of xenon by ACF in conventional temperature The xenon concentration of the mixture gas and the dynamic absorption capacity of polyvinyl formal-ACF were studied by applying PID detecting. The conditions of dynamic absorption were chosen where the velocity of flow of mixture gas was 22.22 ml/minute and the xenon of mixture gas (nitrogen and xenon) was 2.4%. Two factors which influenced the absorption capacity of ACF were also studied. One was the velocity of flow, the higher was the shorter the permeability time was. Although the velocity of flow was changed the saturation absorption, the capacity was constant. The other was that carbon dioxide also influenced the saturation absorption capacity of ACF. On the same condition (such as the velocity of flow, the length of ACF in adsorption column, etc.), polyvinyl formal-ACF absorbed the mixture gas (xenon and carbon dioxide) which the xenon concentration was 3.0%, the saturation absorption capacity of ACF was declined.
