The reradiation of plasma waves excited by a beam of auroral electrons is analyzed as a mechanism for the sporadic auroral radio emission in the kilometer range. The possibility of attaining the high observed efficiency at which beam energy is converted into radio waves is analyzed. It is concluded from this analysis that an effective reradiation mechanism is the conversion of plasma waves into electromagnetic waves at density inhomogeneities associated with acoustic oscillations of the nonisothermal plasma.
