ELECTRODEPOSITION OF BISMUTH-THALLIUM ALLOYS AND THEIR X-RAY STRUCTURE.

As part of their research program on the studies of bismuth and bismuth alloy deposition, the authors recently reported the electrodeposition of Bi-Ni and Bi-Co alloys from aqueous solutions. In continuation of this work, and to improve the mechanical properties of electroplated bismuth which is quite soft and brittle, they investigated the electrodeposition of bismuth-thallium alloys, and the present communication describes these results. The interest in this system was prompted by the reports that thallium improved the resistance of lead to acid corrosion.
