摘要：
Heat checking may be defined as a network of cracks normally observed on hot work tool steels and other metals after use as forging or die casting dies. These patterns are also observed on ingot molds, hot rolls, brake drums and railway wheels. A typical example of heat checking in a die used for brass die casting is shown. The mechanism of heat checking may be separated into initiation and propagation.
