Special features of production of titanium-silicon coatings on titanium VT8 alloy and their influence on the resistance to contact fatigue and fatigue crack growth are studied. It has been established that the coatings increase this resistance. This is especially true for specimens with a microhardness of their coat of 18GPa. It low condensation energies the coat shows titanium silicide and nitride. As the condensation energy rises silicium nitride forms in the coating. Regimes for vacuum arc plating are given.
