The role of faults in the formation of hydrocarbon deposits is considered from the positions of the organic theory of the origin of petroleum. Their mediating influence on these processes characterized by the effect on geological factors determining accumulation of oil and gas is shown. The favorable and unfavorable effects of faults, depending on the conditions of their development during the period of formation of the sedimentary cover are noted. The important role of the faults in the formation of oil and gas deposits is noted.
