Development and use of new cast alloys with special properties (increased resistance to wear, heat fatigue, scale formation, the action of chemical corrosive agents, etc. ) can be accomplished by multicomponent alloying. Choice of compositions of alloying complexes and a quantitative evaluation of their effect on the properties of special alloys require the use of mathematical methods as well as computers to process the experimental data and develop mathematical models of the alloys. To replace some materials with more economical alloys a study directed toward creating new austenitic manganese irons economically alloyed with nickel (0. 5-4%) and other elements was conducted. A cast iron with the composition, % 3-3. 8 C, 2-2. 5 Si, 8-11 Mn, 0. 8-1. 5 Ni, 2. 5-3. 5 Cu, and 0. 8-1. 2 Al has the same magnetic permeability and magnetic properties as nickel iron ChN15D7, but surpasses it in terms of machinability.
