An investigation is conducted of the principles of the process of microbiological treatment of waste waters containing only petroleum products under laboratory and industrial conditions on natural and synthetic media, for the example of marine petroleum-containing bilge waters. Basic characteristics are described for the bilge waters undergoing mechanical treatment by sedimentation and flotation. Optimal conditions of microbiological treatment of the bilge waters (petroleum product load, pH, temperature, etc. ) under conditions of flow cultivation are discussed.
