摘要
An inverse method based on random walk theory was developed to predict the scattering, absorption and size of deeply embedded inclusions in tissue-like media. The random-walk-based theory was tested against phantoms containing inclusions that had a higher coefficient of scattering and/or coefficient of absorption. Further, a Monte Carlo model was used to run simulations to test the theory. Like the phantom data, the simulations poorly matched the original theory when the inclusion's scattering coefficient was less than that of the background.
