摘要
This article explains how digital exchanges and digital transmission, in conjunction with the new national numbering plan and network synchronization, will be used as early as 1985 to introduce a 64 kbit/s switched digital service throughout France. Based on end-to-end digital connectivity, this new service will require only a limited amount of specific equipment (network terminations at customer premises, modems, and multiplexers), confined to the local distribution networks around digtital local exchanges.
