This paper deals with the determination of maintenance manpower of various construction equipment once the scheduled load of maintenance is known. A global optimization of manpower determination has been shown through the criteria of minimization of cost and minimization of loss. In practice, however, any planned schedule is subjected to change because of various constraints which cannot be anticipated in a pre-planning stage. In such a situation, the author states it is preferable to provide a marginal allowance in a schedule. 1 ref.
