Natural to synthetic

Modern resins span a timescale of 125 years. Innovative chemistry at the turn of the 20th century gave birth to new classes of materials, including synthetic resins, which together with synthetic dyes and pigments resulted in a need to publish and communicate the advances to a wider audience in order to exploit these new found technologies. This paper discusses the factors that had a profound effect on the development of the resin industry.
