In 1985, IHC Holland and Tebodin Consulting Engineers of The Hague started a design and engineering project for a coal slurry transhipment demonstration terminal. The aim of this project was to determine the capital investment and the operational costs for such a system. The site chosen is in Rotterdam, adjacent to the Maasvlakte power station which is being converted to coal combustion. The article describes the design and technical aspects of the project.
