摘要
An alternative procedure is suggested in the calculation of approximate elastic critical loads for plane frames which may be considered to be a hybrid of the R. H. Wood and M. R. Horne methods and may be considered to have certain advantages over both. No electronic or graphical aids are required and as with Wood's method, there is a related deflection calculation and both calculations can incorporate infill panels. The paper concludes with the presentation of a series of results for both large and small structures wherby the approximate results obtained by the alternative methods may be compared with the exact values.
