A simplified method for calculating structural parameters of a hybrid ceramic ball bearing

Existing methods for calculating structural parameters of the hybrid ceramic ball bearing are very complicated. We present a simplified calculation method for ring raceway curvature radii of hybrid ceramic ball bearing. This simplified method is based on two basic theories: (1) the structural parameters of existing steel ball bearing are correct; and (2) the bearings possess the same contact fatigue life and temperature rise when the ring raceway of bearings endure the same contact stress and contact area. The simple formula of the ring raceway curvature radii of hybrid ceramic ball bearing is obtained based on the hybrid ceramic, and steel bearings have equivalent contact stress and area under the same load. As an example, the ring raceway curvature radii of a hybrid ceramic ball bearing 6209 are calculated. The hybrid ceramic bearing manufactured with our calculation result can meet the need of running performance.
