Control of hot water temperature in commercial and industrial buildings becomes more critical each year. First, since the 1970s, public awareness has focused on the conservation of fuel, specifically the energy required to heat hot water. Second, and perhaps more recently, interest has also grown rapidly in the conservation of water in many areas of the United States. A guide is presented for selecting thermostatic water mixing valves for low flow showers and faucets to minimize the frequency of hot water scalding.
