This paper proposes a new error compensation circuit which can be used for a clamp-current transformer. The error-compensation circuit is installed only on the secondary circuit and therefore it is free from electrical and structural restrictions imposed on the main current transformer. In addition, it is possible to reduce the size of the error-compensation circuit because the magnitude of secondary current is usually small. In particular, it should be noted that the phase angle of the clamp current transformer is reduced to a very low level. The conventional error-compensation circuit is presented and the newly proposed error-compensation circuit is discussed. Stability of the proposed error-compensation circuit is discussed and experimental results are given.
