摘要
A general systems approach is taken to model the feedback control of process variables in arc welding. The arc welding process is characterized as a multi-variate feedback control system with the reference inputs and sensed outputs defined as time and position dependent vectors. The vector components are separated into direct measures of the weld and indirect measures of the weld. Examples are presented of automatic welding systems that have been designed and manufactured and that employ sensing and control technology representative of all three cases.
