摘要
CCITT Recommendation X. 25 specifies packet-mode interface procedures principally from the network point of view, in terms of DCE responses to packets received from subscriber equipment (DTE). This allows DTE designers a lot of freedom in DTE software design, but may result in a wide range of X. 25 DTE implementations. It is proposed that X. 25 procedures for DTEs be defined so that the DTE can operate at either DTE/DTE or DTE/DCE interfaces. Such an approach will facilitate evolution of existing networks with many point-to-point data links toward compatibility with emerging data networks.
