摘要
Polarized beams at intensity levels heretofore not considered feasible have recently been proposed for heating and fueling fusion plasmas. Polarized-beam fueling could increase fusion rates by 50% as well as allow control of the directionality of the fusion products. It is shown that a process which the authors have recently described, and called collisional pumping, promises to produce beams of polarized ions vastly more intense than producible by current methods.
