For Nuclear Electric's older Advanced Gas Reactors (AGRs) a Safety Review Enhancement assessment identified issues of particular safety significance, such as improvements to the reactor protection system to reduce further the very low probability of failure. Scottish Nuclear's involvement in the same Beyond Design Basis Accident study for their older AGRs resulted in a similar recommendation. To address these concerns, it has been proposed that a diverse, Secondary Protection System be installed, the system being referred to as the Diverse Guardline (DGL). Three stations are currently being provided with these additional protection systems: Hinkley Point 'B', Hunterson 'B', and Dungeness 'B'.
