摘要
The paper discusses the morphogenesis of 'Gupt-godavari Caves' developed in 'Tirohan limestone' area of vindhyan system near 'Chitrakut'. Chemically, it has been proved that 'Tirohan limestone' is dolomite in nature. It is a product of sedimentation in the intertidal and supratidal mud-flat environment of lower Vindhyan sea due to capillary concentration. In spite of being close the morphology of caves differs one from the other. The caves plans have been prepared with the help of prismatic compass survey. Overall evidences obligate the investigation to suggest that the morphological differences of the caves are due to slight variations in texture, porosity and structures of dolomite rocks and major karsting processes involved in the formation.
