Steam-turbine plants for power-generating units of new generation have been improved. Increase of steam temperature from 580°C to 600° provides growth in economical efficiency by nearly 1%, and application of the second reheat increases efficiency by 1.25 to 1.5%. Reliability of the last stages is improved due to lower bending stress and steam moisture. More attention should be paid to aerodynamic improvement of steam turbine. Improvement in specific surface of condensers, decrease of pressure losses are necessary. High-temperature steels should be tested.
