摘要
It is concluded that major advances in blast furnace, steelmaking, and continuous casting operations are still possible and will appear. Continuous methods may become practical and smelting processes using coal directly will come into use. Processing systems which avoid one or more of the conventional steps of steel production, such as direct casting of wire and sheet and conversion of scrap to products without the melting step, are expected.
