METHOD FOR FINDING ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF SEALANTS.

The increasing use of high modulus polymer sealants, as connectors in structural applications such as glass curtain walls and insulating glass units, has shown that there is a need for better information on the engineering properties of these sealant materials. Currently available information on sealants is often limited to ultimate adhesive and cohesive strengths. More typical engineering properties are required. Stress-strain properties and a number of factors affecting stress-strain properties of polymers are of interest. Factors such as stress-relaxation and strain rate are considered, and the dependence of modulus on the factors is described.
