摘要
Papaya processing wastes were used in this laboratory study. An 8-L bioliquefaction unit and a 20-L biogasification reactor were used in the hybrid anaerobic treatment. Nine organic loading rates, ranging from approximately 0. 5 to 8. 5 g TCOD/L/day, were tested in a walk-in incubation room of 30 plus or minus 1 degree C. The optimum organic loading rates for maximizing organic removal efficiency and methane production for treatment of papaya processing wastes in the tropics are 1. 27 and 4. 75 g TCOD/L/day, respectively. Compared with methane fermentation process with sludge recycling and other similar hybrid system treating organic wastes, the present system is comparable in performance based on COD removal and methane production and simpler in construction and operation. Furthermore, the elimination of post-processing handling and treatment of the digested effluent can be achieved.
