Estimation of limestone size influence on properties of fluxed pellets

Analysis of properties of green pellets, strength and metallurgical properties of fired pellets and of desulfurization rate depending on the limestone grain size has shown that all these properties deteriorate when limestone grain size exceeds 0.080 mm. Undersizing of limestone to less than 0.045 mm also considerably deteriorates the above-mentioned properties. To improve the properties of fluxed fired pellets attention should not be paid to specific surface and amount of fine size particles, but to the amount of off-grade large size particles exceeding 0.080 mm.
