摘要
Recognizing the difficulties faced by fabric and automobile makers, ICI Fibers mounted a series of unique programs of work in which warp knitted fabrics dyed and finished to automotive conditions were exposed to Florida sunlight and strength changes were determined. The information produced permits the comparison of the photodegradation behavior of the three major textile yarns used in this area, and helps in making the choice of the best fiber for a particular automotive situation. Results of this program are discussed. One of the conclusions reached is that nylon 66 fabrics present less risk than do those of nylon 6. Also, where direct weather situations may be encountered, polyester performs less well than nylon.
