The test described, which is used for surface quality control of hot wire rod in a new mill of Stahlwerke Suedwestfalen AG, was developed on the basis of experience in testing of thousands of tons of hot wire rod by eddy current measurements in comparison with visual inspection, magnaflux-type testing, and metallographic examinations.
