EXTRACTION OF TAIHEIYO COAL UNDER HYDROGEN PRESSURE.

Non-catalytic extraction of Taiheiyo coal, a subbituminous coal, was carried out by using a 500 cc autoclave under hydrogen pressure. Properties and structural indices were investigated to determine the extraction and disintegration process of coal. Maximum extraction yield was obtained at 420 degree C of 30 min reaction period under 80 kg/cm**2G initial hydrogen pressure. In this case, 0. 46 gr molecular H//2 per 100 g coal was consumed and 2. 37 wt% of coal was converted to gaseous products which consisted mainly of CH//4. Average molecular weight of the extracts decreased with progress of extraction and disintegration.
