摘要
Factors governing the performance of cutting tools made of cemented tungsten carbides are discussed. These include the effect of the addition of titanium carbide and tantalum carbide on crater resistance and edge wear, and the effect of fine grain size on the abrasion resistance, transverse rupture strength, thermal conductivity, and resistance to thermal cracking. A new carbide performance index of the combined hardness and strength of cemented carbide is cited.
