摘要
Elliptical movements on the ocean surface which do not coincide with the direction of the surface tide were observed. To explain them it was assumed that they are caused by internal waves. Discussed is the problem of the effect of low-frequency internal waves on the structure of surface currents for a model of the ocean which is characterized by the presence of a clearly expressed layer of a density discontinuity separating homogeneous and stratified layers. Considered in the solution is the effect of the horizontal constituent of angular velocity of the Earth's rotation on internal waves.
