When weathered microcline is treated with hydrofluoric acid (3. 3 g/liter), SiO//2, Al//2O//3, K//2O and other components are dissolved from its surface, with quartz being only weakly dissolved. The total quantity of felspar passing into the slurry during treatment with HF for 28-29 min at 18 plus or minus 2 degree C amounts to about 1. 3 g/liter (3. 9-5. 2 kg/ton), while the total quantity of quartz amounts to 0. 26 g/liter (0. 8-1. 0 kg/ton).
