Gas tight coke oven doors avoid atmospheric pollution and ensure correct operation of the coking process. Severe temperature fluctuations cause a problem with deflection and distortion, leading to leaking doors. One solution, which is proposed in this article, is to have flexible doors and sealing diaphragms. The system is currently installed on the largest coke oven battery in the world.
