Timeshared video-on-demand: A workable solution

True video-on-demand (T-VOD) allows browsing, selecting, viewing and scanning through programs from a large content repository, at any time, without leaving the house. Existing proposals lack a strong business case that appeals to consumers and service providers alike. With a pay-per-view pricing model for T-VOD, the burden of managing the expense of usage rests with the user. Given with the similarity with Internet access, it is therefore natural for home user to expect a flat-pricing model for T-VOD. A radically different vision called timeshared VOD that can make commercial T-VOD a practical reality is presented.
