Modelling on the failure of skewed masonary arches was discussed to aid development of analytical assessment techniques. The model tests allowed a qualitative look at the failure loads of skewed arches. The experimental arch failure loads were compared to values calculated for the model arch dimensions using square analysis techniques. The cracking patterns of model arches subjected to a line load were likely to approach actual failure patterns of real arches. The knowledge of failure mechanism was expected to aid analytical work on extension of analysis to three-dimensions for assessing skewed arches.
