摘要
Who undertakes research in Britain on cast-metal technology? The answer may well prove surprising. Whereas it might be thought that such activities are largely confined to such organizations as BCIRA, the Steel Castings Research and Trade Association and the Metals Technology Center, the truth is that at least 15 organizations are involved in research to some extent on cast metals and associated production technology. As this new series of articles shows, such bodies range from the well known foundry R&D associations to those more specialist organizations dealing with the properties and applications of a specific metal, and from universities to the laboratories of commercial companies.
