A numerical procedure is outlined for determination of the time constants, frequencies, and amplitudes of the short circuit currents synchronous machines. For this purpose, the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the system's dynamic matrix are considered. The method also allows one to take conveniently into account the finite length of the squirrel cage rings.
