摘要
Two basic kinds of rechargeable systems are used in biomedical equipment: nickel-cadmium (referred to as nicad) and sealed lead-acid. Sealed lead-acid cells are either rectangular, with the electrolyte being flooded (gel) or starved or absorbed in the system, or cylindrical (Gates cells). A brief description of these dc power sources is followed by a discussion of applications to biomedical equipment and recommendations regarding care of battery packs.
