The coated free-sheet business of Appleton Papers Inc. is now known as Appleton Coated LLC pursuant to a January 1999 reorganization by parent Arjo Wiggins Appleton plc (AWA). The restructuring created three global divisions: carbonless and thermal papers; fine, specialties and coated papers; and merchanting. Appleton Coated is a wholly owned subsidiary of Appleton Papers but there is no reporting relationship between Appleton Coated and Appleton Papers, according to company spokesman.
